Talkie's privacy policy and terms describe chats differently

The design

Talkie, an AI companion app operated by SUBSUP PTE. LTD., publishes a Privacy Policy stating the service is “primarily designed for use within the US market.” As retrieved on 16 September 2026, it lists account information, profile details, messages and content, and payment data as information collected, and states the company will “never use or disclose the content of your Talkie conversations for marketing or advertising purposes.”

What the evidence says

The Privacy Policy's data-retention clause is purpose-based rather than fixed to a day count, similar in structure to policies from other companion apps: information is kept “for only as long as necessary” given its sensitivity and the purposes collected for. Talkie's separate Terms of Service state that by uploading “User Content,” a user grants Talkie “a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid-up, transferable, sublicensable, perpetual, irrevocable license to copy, display, upload, perform, distribute, store, modify, and otherwise use” that content “in connection with the operation of the Services or the promotion, advertising, or marketing thereof.” The two documents use different terms — “Talkie conversations” in the policy, broader “User Content” in the terms — and neither document explains how the two categories relate to each other.

What it asks of people

A user is asked to rely on the Privacy Policy's narrower promise about conversation content specifically, while accepting a Terms of Service license that reaches further, covering “text, video, audio, images” and other material a user uploads, for purposes that include promotion. The policy also asks users not to submit another person's personal information, including “voice and personal images,” without that person's consent.

Privacy and safeguards

The policy states a user can delete their account in account settings and that Talkie will block and delete accounts found to belong to users under 16. Neither document states whether the broad content license in the Terms of Service survives account deletion, and neither names what happens to content already used under that license before a deletion request is made.

• Does deleting an account revoke the license Talkie holds over previously uploaded content?
• What would count as using conversation content for “promotion” under the terms, given the policy's marketing exclusion?

Talkie's privacy policy and terms of service, read together, describe two different scopes and two different sets of permitted uses; a reader relying only on the privacy policy's marketing exclusion would not see the wider license the terms separately establish.
