Talkie and Paradot joined the 2023 companion wave as separate ventures

Archived company pages show two distinct 2023 launches, one built on card-collecting, the other on claimed inner life.

The design

Talkie and Paradot are separate products that reached the market in the same 2023 wave as Character.AI and Nomi. An archived capture of Talkie's site from 24 September 2023, copyrighted that year, describes "super realistic AIs coupled with entertaining Cardplay" and invites users to "bring your ideal chat buddy to life," whether "a renowned personality, or an idealized self," through customization tools; a card-collecting mechanic let users "collect and trade cards with other users." The site listed feedback@subsup.com as its contact address. Paradot's operator identified itself differently: an archived version of paradot.ai from 3 April 2023 is copyrighted to "WithFeeling.AI" and describes the product with the tagline "Infusing Humanity into AI Beings," built, it states, around "Memory, Emotion & Consciousness."

What the evidence says

These archived pages establish that each product operated under a distinct name and contact point by early-to-mid 2023; this entry treats Talkie and Paradot as two separate companies' products rather than a single venture, consistent with their different copyright lines and contact addresses. Neither archived snapshot offers a user count or engagement figure, so no comparative popularity claim is made here about either app relative to the other or to larger competitors.

What it asks of people

Talkie's card-collecting layer asks users to treat companion relationships partly as a game with tradeable objects, folding social status, trading cards "with other users", into what is otherwise a private chat product. Paradot's framing around "Memory, Emotion & Consciousness" asks something different: it invites users to take at face value a claim that the product offers something like inner experience, a claim this entry does not treat as verified and flags as marketing language rather than a technical description.

Privacy and safeguards

Neither archived launch page located for this entry publishes a dated privacy policy describing what conversational data each company retained at the time. Paradot's earliest capture was built on the Wix website platform with a placeholder contact address, a detail suggesting the product's public web presence was still in an early, unpolished stage in April 2023, worth noting for anyone assuming the polish of a product's current site reflects its state at launch.

  • Does a card-trading mechanic change what a companion relationship is actually optimized to produce, connection, or trading activity?
  • What would "Memory, Emotion & Consciousness" need to mean, technically, for the claim to be more than marketing language?
  • How would a user of either app find a dated privacy policy describing what was collected at launch, rather than the policy in effect today?

Both products' own earliest public pages are candid about their creative pitch and thin on the operational detail, data handling, company structure, verification, that would let a reader assess the claims independently.
