Kindroid keeps chat memory until an AI or account is deleted

The design

Kindroid, made by Beautifully Incorporated, documents its memory feature and its privacy terms on the same site hub. The Memory documentation describes three types working across five systems: persistent memory (backstory and chat history), a subscriber-only “cascaded” medium-term system, and a retrievable long-term system plus journal entries. The Privacy Policy section of the same hub, effective 28 June 2024 as retrieved on 16 September 2026, states under Data Retention: “We retain your chat conversation and generated media until you delete a specific AI or delete your account.”

What the evidence says

The privacy policy separately claims that chats and other sensitive application data are “encrypted in rest and transit, so we will not be able to view any of said data in our normal operation of the business,” while reserving the right to decrypt data in response to legal process. The memory documentation, a product page rather than a legal one, states that a “chat break” resets short-term and cascaded memory context — a conversational reset, not a data-deletion event under the privacy policy's own retention clause.

What it asks of people

A user who wants Kindroid to “forget” something in conversation, via a chat break, is not thereby asking Kindroid to delete that content from storage; the privacy policy ties actual deletion to removing the specific AI or the whole account. The policy's data-collection table separately lists “Identifying Information” voluntarily included in chats as a category shared with “Service Providers” and “Parties You Authorize, Access or Authenticate,” which asks users to consider what they put in a chat that a companion is designed to remember indefinitely.

Privacy and safeguards

The policy names children's-privacy protections, stating Kindroid does not knowingly collect data from users under 16 and will delete such data if discovered, and describes CCPA deletion rights subject to standard exceptions. Neither document states whether encrypted chat history is retained in a form Kindroid could still search or process for other purposes, such as service improvement, before a deletion request is made.

• Does a chat break clear cascaded-memory data from storage, or only from what the AI actively references?
• What does the encryption claim mean for the “cascaded memory” system, which needs to process past messages to summarise them?
• How long after deleting a single AI does its stored chat history actually stop existing on Kindroid's servers?

Kindroid's documents describe two different things that can sound like the same act: resetting what a companion recalls in conversation, and deleting what the company retains about that conversation. Its privacy policy ties genuine deletion to the account or AI level, not to the chat-break control most users would reach for first.
